Singers participate in series of competitions, and get a chance to audition for the Talent Showcase that takes place the last night of the convention. Singers must have two songs in contrasting styles prepared. Their performance skills, audition techniques, vocal abilities, stage presence and commercial appeal are evaluated.

Guidelines:

1. Prepare two songs in contrasting styles. One will be selected by you, keep in mind age appropriateness and the second will be chosen from a list of songs selected by iPOP!
2. Practice is the key. If you're open to new techniques and styles and take lessons to improve your skills, then you will increase your chances of becoming the next big thing in the music industry.
3. Don't be nervous. Sing as if you own the stage, radiate confidence, and the audience will feel it too!

I have been performing as a singer for many years, working towards a professional career. Four years ago after thyroid surgery I was told that my left vocal chord had been damaged, and was paralyzed; that I would never sing again, nor be able to talk with much modulation.
Needless to say, the news was devastating. I was unable to sing or talk loudly for about 2 years. Recently much has happened, including specialized nerve surgery last May 2009 that has been dramatically successful. My vocal chord is still paralyzed, but my vocal fold muscles are able to compensate now.
Being able to sing at iPOP, in such a beautiful and professional setting, was a miracle to me. I am grateful that you both were supportive of our family and allowed us to participate. The fact that I won a trophy was an additional happy surprise.
Best wishes,
Andrea

We had a GREAT experience at iPOP 2009 Las Vegas. It was exhausting since my daughter was in both dance and singing for the Showcase Performance, but well worth it. We are still recovering.

…We then arrive to iPOP were he couldn’t wait for his auditions. Who was to know that the showcases choreographed by Hollywood producers would also be so exciting? Our son tried out for the showcase and received his very first “call back” and received a part -How cool!! He also auditioned for the modeling showcase and, yes, we could not believe it, he was selected! So far this was an experience no one had anticipated.

iPOP! was challenging because I met a lot of contestants who were very talented, and that talent inspired the rest of the contestants work harder and reach for success. It was like friendly competition. I am definetly recommending iPOP! to my friends because it’s a great opprotunity to express talent and it teaches you a lot about the industry. Also it’s just a really fun experience! My favorite event was the Pep Rally. It was so memorable to be on the iPOP! Stage for the first time. And it was very encouraging to hear advice from all of the guest speakers who’ve reached their goals, just as we, the contestants hope to reach ours. It was great to see how many people that came to iPOP! enjoy the same things I do.

If I were to explain every good thing and opportunity that came from Ipop, I would type a million words. I made so many friends and felt like a star. Every day was a new audition and challenge but thank goodness I overcame every aspect. It was so well organized but the most exciting part was waiting for the callbacks (I got five) and meeting David Henry. We walked the runway in the runway class but acting and singing is what I was there for!
THANK YOU iPOP!

Hello Tiffany;
My name is Kat Garcia, and I am currently a singer/songwriter/actress in Montreal. I have taken classes at John Robert Powers Montreal from 2007-2009, attended iPOP! 2008 Los Angeles receiving 12 callbacks, and have obtained many results. The producer of my current singles that are available on iTunes, Chico from Rizz One Entertainment, gave me your contact info so that I could respectfully thank you for what you have done for me. In order to do so I have attached the letter I wrote to my JRP school in Montreal, as well as, my resume and headshot;

You never know when a blessing will come into contact with your life or at least how it will change it. John Robert Powers was a place where I was able to learn how to manifest my ambitions, dreams, and hard working qualities into such a way that I would be satisfied. I met wonderful and talented teachers that really taught me principals for acting that I hope to never forget. The love for the study of the human condition and the basic study of life has grown due those inspiring teachers, as well. Attending iPOP! Los Angeles was a rewarding experience after so many months of hard work. Through learning how to easily cry in monologue class and perform diverse comedic scenes in TV Scenes and Improv class, I was able to learn how to reach out to an audience, as well as, express myself. Due to the convention I got singed to a Montreal Agency, recorded my official singles with Remixer/Producer/Songwriter/Recording Artist Chico that are on iTunes internationally right now called Feelin' U and Inolvidable, and finished filming the second season of a French TV Show called Tactik on TeleQuebec where I play the role of Chastity. Montreal has supported me in numerous ways, such as, by presenting me as an artist on Radio Canada International (television), having my singles air on Radio Latina (Spanish radio station), and letting me perform at diverse events. After numerous auditions, and all of my hard work I know this industry is the one that I will continue to fight in, in order, to attain the success that I want. After one year and a half at JRP I'm able to say that my experience here has been a true blessing thanks to my supportive family, the staff and teachers. Many will say that the entertainment business is just an industry that can interrupt one's future due to it's uncertainty but I've learned that the outcome of your experience whatever it may be depends on your determination, imagination, passion and most importantly...faith. Thank you iPOP! for giving me what I've always dreamed of.
